- Taronga Zoo, Sydney: This zoo is located in Mosman and has a great view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. There are many animals to see here, including kangaroos, elephants, gorillas, koalas, monkeys, lions, etc. You can also take a ride on the sky Safari where you will look at the animals from above. One thing I didn’t like about this zoo was that it felt too spread out for me – there were just so many different buildings over such a large area..
- Bondi Beach: The famous tourist spot which is pretty much always busy with tourists! It’s quite nice though as it provides lots of entertainment because there are so many people around! Also, there’s plenty of food and other shops so you won’t go hungry. There is the Bondi Icebergs swimming club which looks very nice and I should really get around to going there one day!
- Manly Beach: A much quieter beach in Sydney, it’s a bit further away from the city but definitely worth going to. You can take a ferry to get there if you want which is a great experience or alternatively bus it from the CBD. This beach is much smaller but still has lots of facilities including cafes, restaurants etc. Also ideal for surfing!
- Taronga Zoo Sky Safari: This zoo is located downtown in Darling Harbour and has a great view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. There are many animals to see here, including kangaroos, elephants, gorillas, koalas, monkeys, lions etc. You can also take a ride on the sky Safari where you will look at the animals from above. One thing I didn’t like about this zoo was that it felt too spread out for me – there were just so many different buildings over such a large area..
- River Cruise: If you go to Manly (see number 3), you can take this beautiful cruise which goes down Sydney harbor and shows you all of the major tourist attractions around Sydney. It also stops at Darling Harbour which is where Taronga Zoo is located (see number 2). This is definitely something worth doing not only is it relaxing but it gives you a nice look at the city.
- Darling Harbour: This is where the huge aquarium and dinosaur park are located, as well as lots of other attractions including restaurants and shopping malls. A great place to visit if you’re feeling hungry or just want to shop around! Even if you don’t go into any of these places there are still some good views from outside on the harbor.
- Luna Park: This famous amusement park is home to many thrilling rides such as The Giant Drop, Scream, Swing, etc. There is also lots of food here so you don’t need to worry about going hungry! You can even dine with some cute penguins which sounds like a lot of fun 🙂 It’s a very expensive place though so I can’t really afford to go there myself!
- Sydney Tower: A big landmark of Sydney which you can see from all around the city, it has a great viewing platform on top where you get a 360-degree view of the whole city and some other attractions such as Taronga Zoo (see number 2). Definitely worth going up even if it’s just for something different! There is also a rotating restaurant at the top if you want to eat with a great view 🙂
- Botanical Garden: This garden is located in Moore Park and contains 250,000 plants from all over the world which sound like an interesting place to visit. There are also lots of cafes and restaurants nearby for those who want food, as well as a train station close by for those who want to get there and don’t want to walk.
- Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb: This is a unique experience where you have to climb up the outside of the bridge and then get a few other climbs on your way across it. It should be very scenic during sunrise or sunset which makes for amazing photos! You can also see some other great views from here such as The Sydney Opera House.
- New Year’s Eve: If you’re in Sydney on new years eve then you must go to the harbor where they have amazing firework displays going off throughout the night. There are also lots of restaurants and bars that all offer free drinks such as champagne to enjoy during the fireworks or even before them!
