Discover the natural history and folklore that make this island the “treasure” of Milford. Wear comfortable shoes that can get wet as we hike the ½-mile tombolo out to the island. Sign up early for one of the five dates listed. Advance registration only. Please call 203-878-7440 to register and for directions. A hat, sunscreen, water and snack are recommended. Fee: $9/adult, $6/child CAS Members; $15/Adult, $10/Child Non-members; $5/Seniors.

7am    Registration opens for Walnut Beach 5K Ice Cream Run.  New this year is the Pub Cup.  This event is sponsored by Stonebridge Restaurant, SBC Brewery, Kings Court and Seven Seas.  All the bars in the area are invited to offer up their best runners.  The bar with the best three race times wins a magnificent loving cup, engraved with their name and bragging rights for the year.  Also new this year is the High School Championship run.  High school runners in Milford will compete to find the fastest female and fastest male runner in the city.

8am           Kids run.  Kids race along East Broadway.  The event is free.
10am         Walnut Beach Arts Festival officially opens.  The winner of the Wall of Art competition is presented with his prize and his mural is unveiled.

10:30am    Lazy Kate teaches the ancient art of weaving under the teaching tent. 
 
2pm            The Art of Magic - Illusionist David Martin who is currently on Americas Got Talent shows us wonders of illusion.
2:30pm           David Martin teaches the art of magic to all ages under the Firehouse Gallery Teaching Tent
 

3pm            Singer Danni Danrnel    The art of a vocalist.
3:30           Kingdom Ministries - Performance arts - Dramatic presentation about life lessons done to song.  All ages.
 
1 - 3pm       The Firehouse Gallery - Children's collage classes for ages 7 and up is offered at the Firehouse Gallery, 81 Naugatuck Avenue. 
4:30 pm           Blanket concert at the festival.  Milford based "Peaceful Duck" opens performing Ska.  Ska is a music originated in Jamaica which combines elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. 

5pm            Holy Fire Ministries presents "Out of Hiding."  presented by Kingdom Life Church.  This popular Christian rock band has performed at Rock the Sound in Bridgeport and Soulfest 2008.
